Duncans thoughts on running the monthly meetup
Preparation
- If there's time prepare an intro in advance with a little bit of knowledge about the topic
- Check the agenda for topics for later, maybe pull some things from the forum or other places
- Find out who is presenting and what their name(s) are. Often people don't introduce themselves or the project clearly at the beginning.
Just before the recording
- Check someone is ready to make the video(s)
- Use the first minutes to introduce OSArch briefly, from the website front page going through our aims and links
- Ask for someone to take notes for a follow up post
- Mention that it's public etc.
- Mention turning on camera when you ask a question, keeping mics turned off.
Request the recording start - wait for confirmation
Presentation
- Give a very quick presentation of the person and the project
- go for it
- note down some questions - you'll need at least three to fill the silence between other peoples questions.
(examples of questions topic: funding, real-world applications, team size, plans for the future, suggestions for collaboration ...)
Questions time
- Remind people that we'll stop on the hour.
- Ask that people turn on their camera if they can when they ask their question
- Keep an eye on those raised hands - they're not very big
